I discovered that you can try World Of Warcraft free for ten days.  I figured, what the hey, let’s find out what all the fuss is about.  Googling for the trial software, I found a forum post that showed me where to click to install, and finished with “but beware, WOW eats your life!”.

Well, so far I have done the following:

  1. Clicked to download the demo.
  2. Accepted a license agreement and terms of use.
  3. Downloaded the executable.
  4. Created an account.
  5. Run the executable, which turned out to be a downloader, which estimated 27 hours to download the software.
  6. Reconfigured my firewall and router to support the download, which eventually “only” took 8 hours or so.
  7. Run the downloaded program, which turned out to be an installer.
  8. Agreed to a licence agreement and terms of use.
  9. Installed the game.
  10. Run the game.
  11. Watched some of a LONG intro movie.
  12. Agreed to a license agreement.
  13. Agreed to a terms of use.
  14. Got notified that an update was detected, click here to restart World Of Warcraft.
  15. Clicked Here.
  16. And now, I am watching that fecking download program estimating that the update will take 5 hours to download.

I think this is some kind of selection process to keep “squares” out of the game.  By squares, I mean anyone who thinks 32 hours is a FUCKING LONG TIME to wait for a FUCKING GAME to install.
