I’ve got a Thing at the moment about loving our regular ingredients. British food is generally rubbish and Italian, French, American, Spanish, South American, African, Chinese, Thai, and Indian food are all great. Well I decided it probably wasn’t the ingredients. I decided it was probably the Brits’ attitude to food. I started thinking “what would an italian do with a turnip?” and so on. So when I stumbled upon this Recipe for Roast Sprouts I jumped at the chance to give the little blighters another shot.

Tossed in garlic and salt, roast in the oven for over half an hour, mixed with a rich sweet mushroomy sauce, and garnished with crisp, sweet shallot rings,

they tasted like sprouts.

Actually, they tasted like sprouts with gorgeous garlicky crispy bits on and a lovely tangy sauce, but that would have spoiled the blog entry.

heh, I didn’t do the thermometer thing, or any measuring. But then, my shallots didn’t go crispy so maybe that would’ve been worth bothering with.

Sprouts are great, and their availability is one of the best things about Christmas.

Clearly there’s something wrong and abnormal about you.
