The fastidious reader will be aware that I got a rather expensive letter from the DVLA in November. Well I just got another one. Apparently, while I was untaxed and using / keeping my car on the public road, I was caught using my car on the public road, so never mind the £80 fine plus arrears I have already paid, they would like £1000 at least, or £72 if I want to settle out of court. They have given me ONE WEEK to pay the fine.

ONE WEEK.

It took them 4 MONTHS to work out I’d done it!

And I paid the fine 3 MONTHS ago!

I’m shouting lots of things, mostly rude.

I’d stop shouting and give them the £72 quick.

I’ve written a “shurely shome mishtake?” letter, on account of I can’t afford £72 for every DAY I drove it around untaxed. If they want fines for this period, then I want my arrears of tax back again thanks

Inevitably they will be right, according to the current Laws, and shouting will earn you sweet bugger all. Bastards. One day we will all rise up and overthrow the fascists in government and the scumbags that made them make legislation like that by avoiding car tax. Gah!

Do they have the thing that says if you contest it you forfeit the £72 and it goes to court if your complaint isn’t upheld?

oh THANKS for that! I’m not steaming the thing back open to read it again!

I’m not contesting it, I’ve admitted the offence. I’m just asking whether they haven’t already fined me for it.
