they say ‘look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves’.
I mentioned i got introuble with the dvla for not taxing the car… well for the last week or two i’ve been looking for 500 pounds worth of cheques from salsa teaching that i need to put in the bank. tonight while searching for them i came across a cheque dated sept. 03 for 120 quid…
might I suggest a better saying would be ‘look after the 100 quid cheques you numpty’

I don’t know if it’d help you, but I keep my accounts religiously, checking at least twice a month that the bank balance matches my expectation of it. It never does, but it’s normally a case of finding one or two items I forgot about, or noticing that a cheque hasn’t cleared yet.
Done regularly, it’s quite easy to have a good grip on your financial situation.
It was a tough habit to get into, but now it’s here, it’s here to stay.
Heheh. Every Thursday I balance the books. Only for the last 153 thursdays I’ve been a bit busy and wasn’t sure where the books had got to and anyway how do I know what the balance is supposed to look like… etc… etc…
Have you tried cashing it anyway? I have a friend who works for Abbey who said she never checks dates on cheques.
You could always change your name by deed poll.
Then you could be known as Grumpy old Richard.
